OCOTILLO GOLF RESORT
A Desert Oasis: Ocotillo Golf Course

Yardage: 5,128-6,729
Rating: 71.3
Slope: 131

Hard as it seems to fathom, Ocotillo Golf Course in Chandler has seven miles of shoreline. That's because architect Ted Robinson included a series of lakes that feature water on 24 of the 27 holes at this fabulous Troon Golf-managed facility.

Even hydrophobes seem to enjoy the Gold, Blue and White nines, and the gardenlike surroundings that seem to flourish on each hole. The Gold is more demanding of the three nines, and includes some brilliant par-3s. The signature hole, however is located on the White, where short par-4 forth hole requires two shots over water to a serene green setting accented by a waterfall.

Naturally, a visitor will want to bring lots of golf balls, especially if this is the first journey. But if you play the right set of trees, don't worry-be happy! It gets even better when a tired player arrives at the exquisite 19th hole on Ocotillo Golf Course, where the fabulous food and beverage will sooth the aching soul.

Todd Massie's Tip: Ocotillo Golf Course is very unique to Arizona, almost like a desert oasis. Though it looks intimidating, it's really very playable and it's always in superb shape. There's also lots of variety that can be found on each nine-hole layout. In some ways, the course is almost parkland in character, as there are also a lot of trees. And the colorful patio area is a great place to enjoy a beer.
