MCCORMICK RANCH GOLF CLUB
Palm Course: Par 72; Yardage: 5,057 - 7,044
Pine Course: Par 72; Yardage: 5,333 - 7,187
Architect Desmond Muirhead completed the Palm Course at McCormick Ranch in 1972, and a year later added to it by building the Pine Course. Both are traditional favorites, with the Palm Course boasting more water and sand, and the Pine Course aptly displaying beautiful tree-lined fairways.
The Palm Course envelops the player in an oasis-like setting, bringing water into play on 10 holes. The front nine is especially wet, asking players to stay dry on Nos. 2,3,7,8 and 9. The ninth hole, a 408-yard par 4, features an island fairway, and has earned numerous national honors. Adding to the ambiance, several picturesque views of Camelback Mountain provide beautiful backdrops for the end of your round.
The Pine is much more straightforward, with thick trees lining almost every fairway. The fourth hole, a 536-yard par 5 that requires a 200-yard carry over water off the tee and brings water into play twice more, is set against beautiful vista views of the McDowell Mountains. The signature hole is the par 4 15th. Not only is it challenging, it's also quite dramatic with an island fairway and an island green. (Three bridges are required).
